Welcome to Sohomouse

If the Devil Wears Prada, then let me be your personal guide to your journey through Hell. Think Virgil to your Dante, but much less eloquent. That analogy sounded a lot better in my head.

Sohomouse is my own little corner of the internet where I talk about fashion, runways, and designers. I'm not a professional critic — just a student of HauteLeMode, who spends far too much time watching YouTube in her pjs.

Here we'll walk through the circles of fashion hell together: the not-so-hidden ugly secrets, the thrill and terror of the sample sale, and the eternal question of why we fall in love with things that cost more than rent.

Let's just say if I ever win the lottery, there will be signs. I'll finally own that temperature-controlled archive of my favourite runway shows — every Comme des Garçons paper doll look, every Dior by Galliano, and the Alexander McQueen 2004 skull scarf dress naturally. You best believe that's what I would save in the case of a fire. Until then, pictures will have to do.

Ready to follow me through the 9 circles? Grab your best heels (or sneakers — no judgment, a girl's got to walk). I'll be your guide. Ignore my wobbling in kitten heels.

This might just be a leftover fragment from my Avril Lavigne-obsessed younger years. Maybe. Black is a colour (debatable) that to this day carries a variety of connotations, from punk rebellion to Queen Victoria’s famous all-black mourning attire, which she wore until her own death.

Black has been produced and used since ancient Egypt, though it was not commonly worn due to the hot climate. When it was, it was often for symbolic meaning — seriously, black in summer is bad enough, … Read more
